Treasures for Troops

The 4th Annual Treasures For Troops Campaign with Blue Star Mothers, WION Radio, and Young Automotive Group.

November 13th will be the Kick Off Broadcast at Muir Village Market from 4-7 pm.
Each day that week we will be collecting items throughout Ionia, Montcalm & Kent Counties.  WION Radio and the Young Automotive Truck will be visiting various locations to pick up items in each community.  The complete list of broadcast sites will be available soon!

Here is the wish list for those who like to shop early!

This is where we need more Volunteers

Each evening Monday- Friday we need volunteers to meet us at H.O. Steele Education Center to unload the truck with the days worth of donations. This typically only takes 15 minutes and the exact time is not known until that day. So if you would like to volunteer 1 of those nights, please work out the details with Penny.

Sunday, November 19th, will be packing day! Volunteers will sort supplies and set up a packing order in the AM hours. Then after lunch additional volunteers are invited to come help pack the boxes. Each box receives at least one hand written Christmas Card and is packed carefully to fill every inch of the box. We pull in volunteers from various groups including Citizen Corps, Blue Star Mothers, Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts, 4-H, and so many more. We basically need all the help we can get.

Monday, November 20th, is Post Office Day. Volunteers with strong backs are needed for this day! Basically it is carrying boxes from H.O. Steele to load into a truck or trailer, then carrying boxes into the post office. Blue Star Mothers handle filling out all the forms and covers the cost of postage thru donations collected as part of the drive. We simply need volunteers who can load and unload.

This is a pretty massive event for our small community, and it takes many people to make it possible. If you have never volunteered with this, I suggest you get involved on either Sunday or Monday so you can see the full impact we are having by partnering with this group of businesses and organizations!
