Story Book Night at the Moose

The Ionia County Intermediate School District and the Loyal Order of the Moose in Ionia are teaming up to host a Storybook Character Night on Saturday January 17th from 4:00 to 7:00 pm to raise money for the Dolly Parton Imagination Library of Ionia County.

The Ionia Moose will be preparing a home cooked meal of Swiss steak, real mashed potatoes, coleslaw, a vegetable, hotdogs, macaroni and cheese and cake for all to enjoy. Storybook characters will be on hand as servers for your child to meet and get their picture taken with. The band Jonas Ridge will be providing blue grass music and some familiar tunes for the kids to enjoy too. The Women of the Moose are creating delicious treats for a baked-goods auction and there will be 5 quilts in the theme of The Fuzzy Little Duckling that will be available to buy.

Tickets for the event are $8.00 for those 13 and up; $4.00 for children 6 to 12 and those five and under are free! Tickets can be purchased at the Ionia ISD, Moose Lodge of Ionia and both locations of Michigan One Community Credit Union in Ionia as well as at the door on the day of the event.

What is the Dolly Parton Imagination Library and who is eligible to participate?
Reading to your child is one of the MOST important things you can do to get them off to a great start in life. The Imagination Library will help you read to your child by sending books directly to your home. All children who live within the Ionia County Intermediate School District (Belding, Ionia, Lakewood, Palo, Portland, Saranac, Haynor, and North LeValley) who are between birth and five years of age, (but have not turned five years of age) are eligible to participate. This is a free literacy program for young children and it is considered a GIFT from the community back to its youngest citizens. For just $27.00 per year, a child will receive a high quality book once a month delivered right to their home for an entire year.  Visit the ISD website for more information!
