Ionia County Commission on Aging
Welcome to the 10th Annual Walk for Warmth ! Through your eff orts last year, over $61,000 was donated to EightCAP, Inc. for its 9th Annual Walk for Warmth (W4W). These dollars were used in our Gratiot, Ionia, Isabella, and Montcalm County Community Services o ffices to help with energy bills, shelter, or other needs a family might have in order to stay warm. Thank you!
We wish we could say that this battle is over, that the basic needs of all our citizens and neighbors are being met. Across our nation people are suff ering from unemployment, under-employment, high energy bills, and weather extremes. Michigan has not suff ered from a “super” storm - it justgets cold and stays that way.
Our 10th Annual Walk for Warmth will include four events. Participants will enjoy wintry outdoor walks followed by soup/chili and bread cook-o luncheons.
Events will start at 10:30 am and end at 1:00 pm.
- Isabella County - February 7, 2015, at Mt. Pleasant Housing Commission in Mt. Pleasant
- Gratiot County - February 14, 2015, at the Alma First Church of God - His Place
- Montcalm County - February 21, 2015, at Mt. Calvary Lutheran Church in Greenville
- Ionia County - February 28, 2015, at the Commission on Aging in Ionia
Please dress according to the weather.
In the central part of Michigan, we still help each other when the going gets tough. Whether you bring a pot of chili, get pledges and walk, or just donate, we hope you will join this eff ort. Each walker who turns in $35 in pledges will receive a FREE W4W long-sleeved T-shirt! Put your name on a W4W sponsor mitten or pledge form today! A business donating a minimum of $50 will have its name printed on the back of the W4W T-shirt.
Join us for a soup/chili and bread cook-off luncheon following each walk. Bring some money to vote for your favorite entry. Organizations interested in supplying soup/chili are asked to contact Jan Lacy (616)754-9315, x 3345

What is the Dolly Parton Imagination Library and who is eligible to participate?
|Reading to your child is one of the MOST important things you can do to get them off to a great start in life. The Imagination Library will help you read to your child by sending books directly to your home. All children who live within the Ionia County Intermediate School District (Belding, Ionia, Lakewood, Palo, Portland, Saranac, Haynor, and North LeValley) who are between birth and five years of age, (but have not turned five years of age) are eligible to participate. This is a free literacy program for young children and it is considered a GIFT from the community back to its youngest citizens. For just $27.00 per year, a child will receive a high quality book once a month delivered right to their home for an entire year. Visit the ISD website for more information!|
